Arts Gunnedah

Arts Gunnedah

Gunnedah artists have been sharing their skills and exhibiting their work for over 40 years, now under the banner of Arts Gunnedah. We are a member-run, not-for-profit organisation which exists to benefit local and regional artists and the Gunnedah community. We provide a vibrant gallery space for both local residents and visitors within Gunnedah's Cultural Precinct, with all artworks for sale.

The Mackellar Centre

The Mackellar Centre

A purpose built multifunctional facility dedicated to arts, culture, literature and history. This is a space to explore the Dorothea Mackellar story and the home of the poetry awards. This landmark is located in Gunnedah, north-west New South Wales, and can be found in South Street (Anzac Park). The centre offers an opportunity to take poetry lovers from far and wide on a journey into this “wordy” world. Experience the poetry of Dorothea Mackellar in the town that has inspired some of her works. The centre also houses the extensive archives and records of the Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Awards and the headquarters of the national poetry competition. The Jean Isherwood Water Colour Collection depicting verses of ‘My Country’ is displayed in the Bill Clegg Wing of the Mackellar Centre and is worth a special visit.
